Yesterday was Valentine’s Day, and I hope you had a good one. Mine was very busy, but very fun. I had my two best friends who live overseas that I hadn’t seen for a long time to come to visit Sydney, so we spent Valentine’s Day together.
We had an all day feast that started with breakfast; we had pancakes and scrambled eggs. For lunch we had quail with vegetables and risotto, and for afternoon tea we had chocolate cupcakes and mixed berries and coconut slice. I wanted to make a heart shaped Valentine’s Day cake but I realised I didn’t have a heart shaped tin and I didn’t have the time to go out and buy it. To make the heart shaped cake I baked the coconut and berry slice and I used a heart shaped box that I got as a gift for Valentine’s Day. I used that box to guide me to cut the cake into the desired shape. Luckily it turned out well, and the rest of the slice I used for the rest of our afternoon tea. I iced the heart shaped slice with a butter cream icing and decorated it with some edible sugar flowers that I had in my pantry.
Below are the table settings I used.
