Welcome to Dee’s Feast!
I’m Dee, I live in Sydney, Australia and I love cooking. From a young age I started watching people around me cook, I would sometimes sit there for hours, while my friends were busy playing outside. Where I come from, in East Africa, we cook everything from scratch. I remember how we made our own spice mixes, breads, cakes, sauces and soup, fresh, every day! Because of this, we never kept any food in the fridge, only milk, water and other cold juices to keep us cool on hot days. Each meal from breakfast to dinner and in between, including morning and afternoon tea, was made from scratch that day, and was eaten that day. Apart from my childhood in East Africa, most of my cooking I learned from my time in Italy and travel to other countries, the rest I learned through cooking school and family recipes.
My philosophy on cooking is that it should be hassle free, we don’t need to spend hours shopping, preparing, cooking, and washing up afterwards. We just don’t have enough time between work and family. We also need time for ourselves to unwind and do other things that we enjoy!
For me personally, cooking for more an hour is a turn off, and reading complicated recipes frustrates me! That is why I try to make each dish a feast; fast, easy, affordable and simple to make and tasty to eat!
